Winter can feel long and cold compared to the summer. Our finances may still not be at their healthiest after the expensive holiday season. Thankfully, it’s possible to still feel abundant, even when living on less.
Having given up my day job to pursue my dreams, I know how it feels to live frugally. The truth is I’ve not always had the best relationship with money. Yet, it’s through my experiences over the last few months that I’ve learnt to feel more abundant.
Since I started implementing the following tips, lots of opportunities have come my way.
- Do something completely abundant at least once a week
This may sound contradictory to learning to live on less. However, doing stuff regularly that makes us feel abundant is the key to prosperity. The secret is to pick something that you enjoy but at the same time doesn’t cost the earth.
Here are some ideas but feel free to do ones of your own.
Wear your best outfit just for the fun of it. Make yourself your favourite organic hot chocolate drink. Listen to your favourite music. Relax in a bubble bath. Visit a free museum or art gallery that is full of beautiful things. Treat yourself to pretty fresh flowers. Light a luxury scented candle. There are many ways to feel rich through spending less.
- Take a winter walk in nature
If there was anything ever more free and abundant, it’s nature. Walking is good for stress so if you are worrying about money, this is a good one to do. Nature helps us to connect with all the senses, guiding us to a more present state of being.
As you walk, take deep breaths. Smell, touch, feel, and imagine the taste of the air. Mother nature is great as she provides us with such beautiful things!
- Review your finances
Personal finances can cause anxiety. Many of us have old self-limiting beliefs when it comes to money, yet it doesn’t have to be this way. By learning to enjoy the process of reviewing our finances, money becomes our friend and starts to flow with more ease.
Try keeping a money journal. Without judgement, write down daily every single thing you spend. Find the fun in this task. Chances are there are things you are wasting your money on. By reviewing your spending and making cut backs on stuff that you don’t need, you can free up more income for the things that you do.
Follow this process daily by making a list of ten things you are grateful for. Say thanks from the heart. A gratitude list sends a positive message to the universe.
- Connect with friends by organising a healthy buffet
Who said you need a special occasion to spend time with friends or family? Fun with loved ones can be priceless!
Lots of people like to follow a healthier diet in January so why not host a healthy buffet feast at your house? Just get each person to bring a healthy buffet dish to share. It’s a great way to have an abundance of fun with the minimum of shared costs.
By enjoying and embracing a more frugal January ( or any other month), we can learn to tap into our own richly abundant potential.
