Today I woke up feeling anxious. Not words you want to hear from a yoga teacher/ self-help guru right? Yet, there I was opening my eyes to a feeling of my adrenals walking a tightrope across a piranha infested river. Not nice!
Though instead of walking into my day feeling lost and fearful, I instead chose to calm my mind and ease my soul by following the following easy steps.
- Stop the negative thinking. I do this by pivoting all my negative thinking into something positive instead. Okay so for me this isn’t always easy, and sometimes I fall into bad habits. However, the more I remember, the more I change! An example is me thinking to myself ‘I am invisible’ and changing it to ‘ I am visible,’ or ‘I am in danger’ into ‘I am safe.’ An example is me thinking to myself ‘I am invisible’ and changing it to ‘ I am visible,’ or ‘I am in danger’ into ‘I am safe.’
- Moved my body. Exercise for me improves my well being and brings my hormones and body into balance. I find it great to calm and distract my mind when I am feeling anxious. Find something that works for you. Here’s my free online yoga class.
- Meditation- by sitting still and closing my eyes I automatically feel so much calmer. By slowing my breathing down I am able to go within. Meditation works well for me but this wasn’t always the case. Even 3 minutes can make a difference. For a free meditation guide please join my mailing list community.
- Gratitude can be a slippery subject. It may feel challenging to feel grateful when feeling anxious and skint. By focusing on lack, it gives a message to the universe to provide more of the same. By focusing on abundance, gratitude and prosperity, that gives the ‘go’ sign to the universe for more to come. Gratitude teaches us to appreciate what we have and also recognise how abundant and loved we are no matter what. Life is a gift after all.
By doing the things above I was able to bring myself out of misery into happiness
