Ever have that feeling that something is missing from life? Perhaps you are too busy, but may get a sense of emptiness in the moments between action and rest.
Sometimes when our timetable is demanding we can turn to things like alcohol, drugs, TV and unhealthy food as a bandage to prevent us from feeling.
We may even turn our back on our health and ignore what would be more beneficial like healthy choices and instead go for a sugar spike in the form of a cake or a hangover brought on from having had just one more drink.
Sadly, there are so many ways to avoid the authenticity of being present via many self-sabotaging tools if we allow them.
Yet, it doesn’t have to be this way. One can learn to pick healthier options by following the tips below and hence step onto the path of feeling more contented.
It takes a little bit of effort daily to manifest a substantial change. With this in mind here are five ways to kick start a holistic lifestyle.
1. Kick start with a yoga weekend
If you can, why not get things started by going on a yoga retreat?
Weekends are for relaxing, but in this busy day and age, it is hard to find the time to do so. The pay-hard work-hard philosophy can lead to burn out. Often the person we least care about is ourselves. This way of living leaves one out of balance and open to suffering. Instead, step out of the fast lane and rejuvenate your being. Yoga weekends offer the tools to rejuvenate, refresh, and also start laying the foundations of spiritual practice that will enable us to provide you with the beginnings of a support system to help you navigate through the stresses of life Check out the many yoga weekends worldwide online. Here are the. Yoga weekends that I run.
2. After the yoga retreat
So the yoga weekend you went on may have left you feeling relaxed. Perhaps while away you managed to fit in some time to relax, meditate, do yoga and cultivate mindfulness. Hopefully, you feel great. The problem is you have to be in the office early tomorrow and too often after a break by the end of the first working day it can feel like you never went to away. Now what?

Plus, once or twice a week do a longer routine say at the weekend. That way you are still keeping up your practice but also developing yourself.
3. Learn to say no
Be kind, honest, helpful and if you have to say no do it with a smile
That way you are authentic and true to yourself and to others. Remember, you will never please everyone so don’t even try to. Kindness and honesty go a long way. Also, if you keep saying yes to stuff you don’t want to do you will only make yourself miserable.
Go forth on your holistic journey and pause and smell the grass every once on in a while.
